Paddling the Waupaca River

On Saturday, August 20, 2016, a group of Madison Area Outdoor Group members joined me for a pleasant day on the Waupaca River in Waupaca County, Wisconsin. We paddled 7.75 miles from the County Q launch to Brainard’s Bridge Park in Waupaca. The trip took a total of 4 hours, which included about a half hour snack stop at the covered bridge. I managed to go for a swim in the last set of pitches before the take out. Water levels were a little above average, which made for a slightly less technical paddle through the limited whitewater on the trip.
